John Dougherty is a Northern Irish writer who now lives in Gloucestershire. He worked as a primary school teacher until 2004, when he became a full-time author. His first book, Zeus on the Loose, was shortlisted for the Branford Boase Award, and he is the author of the hugely popular Stinkbomb and Ketchup-Face books for primary-age children. John is former chair of the UK Children's Writers and Illustrators Group of the Society of Authors.
