Volume one comprises an extended introduction by Henry Summerson; volumes two and three will publish the contents of the eyre roll in parallel Latin and English text. The introduction and edition combined shed considerable light on Lancashire society in the late thirteenth century, as well as providing important evidence for the history of crime and justice in the reign of Edward 1.
